Ahmed Publishing House

A Dhaka publisher since 1954, the house of Golam Mostafa's Bishwanabi and long-running religious and history titles.

About

Mohiuddin Ahmed founded Ahmed Publishing House in Dhaka in 1954. In 1984 the National Book Centre gave him its gold medal as best publisher. The house is now run by Mesbahuddin Ahmed.

Over seven decades it has published religious books, history, translations, Liberation War titles, children's books and study aids, around two thousand titles by its own count. Its steadiest sellers include Golam Mostafa's life of the Prophet, Bishwanabi, and Mir Mosharraf Hossain's Bishad Sindhu. In 1968 it published Syed Ali Ahsan's Uchcharan and Abul Mansur Ahmad's novel Ab-e-Hayat; later came Farrukh Ahmad's collected works (1979) and Selina Hossain's Ekattorer Dhaka (1989).

Its books give the address 66 Pyaridas Road, Banglabazar, in Old Dhaka's book quarter. Abdul Mowdud's Hazrat Omar, first published in 1967, reached its twelfth edition there in 2023.

Its books are published in Dhaka. Ask the desk, and we will tell you what we can find.
