Memories of the journal Parichay
A Kolkata publisher of Bengali and English criticism, history and memoir, active since the late 1970s.
Papyrus is a Kolkata publisher of serious non-fiction, with its address at 2 Ganendra Mitra Lane in north Kolkata. Its titles in library catalogues go back to 1978, and it has published in Bengali and English ever since.
The English list is scholarly: Susobhan Sarkar's On the Bengal Renaissance, Abu Sayeed Ayyub's Tagore's Quest, Sukumar Sen's The Great Goddesses in Indic Tradition and Sumit Sarkar's A Critique of Colonial India. The Bengali list leans to criticism and memory: Sankha Ghosh's prose, Paritosh Sen's Zindabahar, Hirankumar Sanyal's recollections of the journal Parichay, selections from the quarterlies Kabita and Jijnasa, and Sudhir Chakraborty's anthology of modern Bengali song.
Papyrus was still bringing out new books in the late 2010s.
