Kishore Bharati
Tridib Kumar Chattopadhyay (ed.)
Children's monthly founded in 1968
The Kolkata house behind Kishore Bharati, publishing adventure, mystery and science fiction for young readers.
Patra Bharati was set up in Kolkata in 1982 through the efforts of the children's writer Dinesh Chandra Chattopadhyay. In October 1968 he had launched Kishore Bharati, a monthly for children and teenagers, and the magazine and the publishing house have grown up together.
Kishore Bharati carried Syed Mustafa Siraj's Colonel Niladri Sarkar, Samaresh Majumdar's Arjun stories, Narayan Debnath's Nonte Phonte and much else. Patra Bharati publishes the books: omnibus 'samagra' volumes, a best-of-Kishore Bharati anthology, adventure and science fiction for young readers, and thrillers, historical fiction and novels for adults.
Dinesh Chandra's son, the writer Tridib Kumar Chattopadhyay, edits Kishore Bharati and runs Patra Bharati from 3/1 College Row, in the College Street area.
