জগৎপুর নামটি দ্বৈত অর্থে ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে। যা জাগতিক তাকে নিয়েই আলোড়িত হয় মানুষের মন, মনন। এই উপন্যাসের প্রধান চরিত্র আমানকে ঘিরেই কাহিনি দানা বাঁধে ডুয়ার্সের এক কল্পিত গ্রামে। খুব সহজ, খুব অনাড়ম্বর আমানের গ্রাম্যজীবনে হঠাৎই ধূমকেতুর মতো আবির্ভাব হয় দক্ষিণবঙ্গের এক সুফি সাধকের। আমানের ব্যক্তিগত জীবনের সমান্তরালে প্রবাহিত হতে থাকে আর-এক জীবন, যে জীবন দোয়েলের, ফড়িংয়ের। কৈশোরের ভালোবাসাকে হারিয়ে আমানের জীবন হয়ে ওঠে ছন্নছাড়া। সঙ্গে জটিল শারীরিক ও মানসিক ব্যাধি। অভাবিতভাবেই শ্লীলতাহানির অভিযোগ ওঠে আমানের বিরুদ্ধে। জেল হয় তার। তারপর কীভাবে আমান নিজেকে খুঁজে পেল। আমান কে? তার আত্মউন্মোচন কীভাবে হল? নিজের সঙ্গে কীভাবেই বা হল চেনাজানা? নাজাতের খোঁজেই জগৎপুরের অনিবার্য জার্নি। জগৎপুরেই আছে দাদা হুজুরের মাজার। সেখানে কি এমন হল আমানের সঙ্গে? মোক্তারপুরের যুবক আমান ওরফে আমানুদ্দিনের সঙ্গে হজরতের সাক্ষাৎ তাকে কতটা বদলে দিল? কাঙ্ক্ষিত নাজাত পাওয়ার জন্যই বুঝি এই জগৎপুরের যাত্রা। এই জার্নি মিস্টিক, উপভোগ্য এবং একই সঙ্গে আবিল, বিষাদমথিত।
