সুকুমার রায়ের বিখ্যাত ‘আবোল তাবোল’ কাব্যের অন্তর্গত ‘হুঁকোমুখো হ্যাংলা’ কবিতার মূল বিষয়বস্তু হলো একটি কাল্পনিক ও অদ্ভুত প্রাণীর গম্ভীর চেহারা এবং তার তুচ্ছ অথচ অদ্ভুত এক সমস্যা নিয়ে হাস্যরসাত্মক আলোচনা। কবিতার শুরুতে কবি হুঁকোমুখো হ্যাংলা নামের প্রাণীটির মনমরা ও ফ্যাকাশে মুখখানা নিয়ে কৌতূহল প্রকাশ করেছেন। তার মুখে হাসি নেই দেখে মনে হয় সে বুঝি কেঁদে ফেলবে বা তার কোনো বড় বিপদ বা মর্মান্তিক কিছু ঘটেছে । কিন্তু আসলে তেমন কিছুই হয়নি। সে দিব্যি আরামে বসে কাঁচকলা চটকে খাচ্ছিল। তার আসল চিন্তাটি হলো মাছি মারার এক অদ্ভুত ও জটিল ফন্দি। প্রাণীটির দুটি ল্যাজ রয়েছে। ডান বা বাম দিক থেকে মাছি বসলে সে সেই ল্যাজ দিয়ে মাছি তাড়ায়। কিন্তু কোনো ‘পাজি’ মাছি যদি ঠিক মাঝামাঝি এসে বসে, তবে সে বুঝতে পারে না কোন ল্যাজ দিয়ে তাকে তাড়াবে। এই গভীর ও হাস্যকর সমস্যা নিয়েই সে সারাদিন গভীরভাবে চিন্তা করে সময় কাটায়।
